31st Tree Appreciation Walk on 7th Oct, in Bamboo Trail at SGNP, Mumbai: The majestic Trees, the beautiful shrubs, the vulnerable herbs, delicate climbers & vines…..bids adieu to Rain God after a hectic schedule of flowering, fruiting, dispersing…. making food for themselves & for inmates……plenty of it for every one in the forest……Colorful Butterflies, dull moths flying with ease everywhere being assured that their caterpillars have plenty of greens to chew on……Giant Wood Spider sits cozily at her web & looks down upon the nest of Harvester Ants……may be wondering in awe how such large number of individual work in total harmony…….Digger Wasp scoops out pollens from the Leea’s flowers……Bauhinia malabarica’s flowers fallen on the forest floor, filling the air around with sweet fragrance…..Smithia’s yellow flowers every where breaking the monopoly of the greens…….. ……This is Bamboo Trail for you all……….. On 7th October in SGNP, Mumbai, please do join us for the Tree Appreciation Walk on the path which never seems to end anywhere. The 31st walk is on Sunday 7thOctober, 2012 Venue: Bamboo Trail, Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali Time: 7.30 Duration of walk: 2 hours Meeting Point: SGNP’s gate near the ticket window. Most Important: Bamboo Trail is a restricted area and we have taken permission to conduct the walk there. It is about 5 to 8 km inside the park from the main gate. Following charges will have to be paid to Forest department… Those who are coming by car have to pay approxi Rs.200/- which includes Rs.100/- car charges, 30/- entrance fees, 50/- for the Bamboo trail and 20/- guide fees. Others have to pay about Rs.160/- per head…..Rs.30/- entrance fees, 50/- for the Bamboo Trail, 20/- for the guide and 60/- for vehicle to Bamboo Trail & back. (At the gate jeeps are available; they charge about 60/- return fare). Very Important : Please Don’t be late, specially who are coming for the 1st time for the trail in the park & not familiar with the area….there will be other groups also for their walks and it will be very difficult to locate us once we leave for Bamboo Trail. And as you all are aware that in forest we have to follow certain Do’s & Don’ts……..Here are some…. a) Please wear dull cloths only……preferably dark green, brown, black. b) No plastics bags or wrappers…..carry food or snacks in boxes which you carry back home. c) carry Odomos or any mosquito repellent f) Wear good Walking shoes….the terrain is rocky at some places & uneven and we cross a small water stream also. We are trying to arrange for a vehicle to take people to Bamboo trail from the gate……its necessary for us to know the number of people to be taken by jeep, so please register you name with we if you want go by jeep. Park gate opens at 7.30 am. List of the trees which we are planning to show will be forwarded very soon. Please carry food if some of you would like to stay back and explore the area around. One gentle reminder…..do inform us as soon as possible if transport is required to reach Bamboo Trail….It is about 5 to 8 km away from the main SGNP’s gate.
