It’s the Sun shining on the rain and the rain falling on the Sun shining…… as one hear the approaching sound of drums heralding the Navratri……. gently but surely the Sharad ritu (autumn) nudging out the Shravan, …. & its time for us, for the monthly tonic of wilderness…….the forest floor of the Kanheri Cave trail in SGNP is full of mystery & surprises….…….flowers of Forest Barleria (Barleria prattensis), Purple Heads (Phyllocephalum scabridum), Bala, Atibala, Mahabala(Sida acuta, S. rhombifolia, S. cordifolia), are blooming…….tiny Barki (Geissaspis tenella), Aeschynomene Americana, Neelima (Murdania simplex) are so small and hidden among the grasses that they throw challenge at us to discover them………..lets get together once again to enjoy the nodding Smithias, dominant Kurdu (Celosia argentea), taste the fruit of Hasoli (Grewia nervosa)and admire the beauty of Grewia serrulata’s flowers………. We invite you all to take a Tree Appreciation Walk with us in Kanheri Caves trail SGNP, Borivali……..

The 42nd walk is on Sunday 6th oct, 2013

Venue: Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali

Time: 7.30 am

Duration of walk: 2 hours

Meeting Point: SGNP’s gate near the ticket window.

Please buy your ticket which is Rs.34.40/- per head. Car ticket is approximately Rs 100.

Also note we have to pay Rs 50 to forest department for entering the trail and Rs 10 for the forest guide. Please pay the said money to your group leader and kindly bring exact change so we do not waste time]

Most Important:

1. Kanheri Caves Trail is not a restricted area but we have to take permission to conduct the walk there. It is about 8 km inside the park from the main gate.

2. Please register with us by 4thoct,13 as we have to inform the forest office in advance. This time we are restricting the number to 40 participants only.

3. Its not possible for us to arrange for the vehicle from gate to Kanheri Caves Trail, please make your own arrangements to reach there which is just 8 km from the main gate. Please do car pooling…do little net working.

Very Important : Please Don’t be late, specially those who are coming for the 1st time for the trail in the park & not familiar with the area….there will be other groups also for their walks and it will be very difficult to locate us once we leave for Kanheri Caves Trail. Also the que for tickets will be very long so do come early.

And as you all are aware that in forest we have to follow certain Do’s & Don’ts……..Here are some….

a) Please wear dull cloths only……preferably dark green, brown, black.

b) No plastics bags or wrappers…..carry food or snacks in boxes which you carry back home.

c) Carry Odomos or any mosquito repellent, drinking water.

f) Have proper rain wear & good rainy shoes.

g] Stay with the group.

h] Each one responsible for their own safety .

I] Take nothing from nature.

Leave nothing behind except your footprints.

Take lots of pictures and memories.

Park gate opens at 7.30 am.
