Spike-thorn family? ABMAY01/16 : 8 posts by 3 authors. 7 images. This tree is flowering now but the tiny flowers are high up in the tree. I tried my best to take a clear picture for a tight crop. The leaves are entire, glossy and dark green. It seems to me that it could belong to the spike-thorn family. Please advise. Above Mcleodganj, Dharamshala, HP 1750m 12, 14 and 19 May 2016 I am very interested to see if there is a yellow pigment if the bark is scratched with a knife. I managed to visit the tree today and scratched the surface of the trunk. Below a thin skin it was yellow-green. Does that lead us somewhere? Please advise. Thank you so much. It helps to eliminate the family Celastraceae. The bark of Celastraceae are usually thick and vertically fissured. I am looking forward to learn what it is. Check with Primulaceae members … Could be Embelia Sp., |
