Shrub or a small tree 4 to 6 m tall. Bark gray, smooth, blaze whitish. Branches conspicuously marked with scars of fallen leaves, young parts pubescent. Leaves narrow lanceolate or oblanceolate, 1.5-4.5 by 3.7 in., glabrous on both sides, base cuneate, margin entire, apex acuminate, lateral veins 6-15 on each either half, slender, reticulation elongate and conspicuous beneath. petiole 0.5-1 cm long, stipules subulate glabrous. Figs axillary on leafy or leafless branches, usually solitary or paired, involucral bracts 3. Male flowers near apical pore, pedicellate, calyx lobes or tepals 3, oblanceolate, stamens 2, anthers ovate. Gall flowers subsessile calyx lobes 4, ovary globose, style short, lateral, stigma tubular, dilated. Female flowers on a separate receptacle, pedicellate calyx lobes 4, axillary, solitary, pyriform, constricted at the base stigma bilobed, reddish-brown, spongy when ripe. Achenes reniform, minutely tuberculate. Syconus fruit.
