Rajgad, MH, November 2024 :: Plant for ID :: ARK2024-019: 2 high res. images.

This was clicked at Rajgad near Pune, Maharashtra in December 2014.
I initially thought this to be Tricholepis amplexicaulis, but it is not.
I recently posted a T. amplexicaulis and this looks definitely different.
Requested to please ID.

Cyanthillium cinereum (L.) H.Rob.

these were bigger than the Cyanthilium cinereum that I know. Could it be something else?

OK. Please check Acilepis / Vernonia / Cyanthillium sps. in efi and other sites.

Could not find anything close as per comparative images at
https://efloraofindia.com/efi/vernonieae/

It might be Phyllocephalum lilacinum

I am not sure; my guess is Phyllocephalum lilacinum (Dalzell & A.Gibson) S.M.Almeida & M.R.Almeida

How is it different from
https://efloraofindia.com/efi/phyllocephalum-scabridum/?

A detailed description can be found in Dr Almeida’s flora which I don’t have with me right now.
Syn. Centratherum tenue C.B.Clarke in Compos. Ind.: 4 (1876) and  Phyllocephalum tenue (C.B.Clarke) Narayana in Curr. Sci. 51: 439 (1982).
I found this link online:
The phyllaries are quite different from P. scabridum and flowers are smaller. Overall the plant is noticeably different and has been a source of confusion for a long time.
Please see detailed photos of what I believe is P. lilacinum according to Dr Almeida’s description.
I am copying this mail to …, who might have more inputs.
