Shrub 1-2m, glabrous. Leaves ovate lanceolate 6-11*2-3cm, acuminate, base cuneate pale beneath, strongly 3-veined from above base, petioles 2mm, stipules 3-4mm, subulate. Flowers in short bracteate racemes 3-6mm, on pedicles 5-10mm. Male flowers 3mm diameter, calyx disc-like, unlobed. Female flowers 8mm diameter, calyx divided to base into 3 long and 3 short ovate lobes. Fruit 2.5cm, diameter, dehiscing stellately, borne on elongated and thickened pedicel 2cm. May-August
