To me looks different from images at
ID of this plant is lying pending since a long time with a friend also. I had opportunity to click it. Tried all Lamiaceae listed in the efn but no luck.
Thanks for the mail. In Colquhounia coccinea var. mollis, it would be densely hairy, but in this images I find sparsely hairy, so I go for the typical variety coccinea
In all Colquhounia sp. listed in Nepal I noticed yellow patch in the rear petal which
is not found in this sp.
Please check Flora of China, one may get some clue.
Thank you .. Colquhounia seguinii Vaniot ?? But not listed in Nepal.
Thank you … Image I searched in web is more or less matching. But specimens to be studied carefully before coming to final conclusion. It may be extended distribution to Nepal.
Could you please look into this if it is Colquhounia seguinii Vaniot ??
Thank you for you pictures, very beautiful. I think it is Colquhounia coccinea var. coccinea. Attached is C. seguinii from China.
Thank you … for the ID.
By then way I could not find better images in the net except one for better comparison. Appreciate if I can see some more images if you have.
On striking character of this flower is there is no yellow patch in the rear of petal.
Here I attached other species for your comparison.
Thank you …, for images of other species.
By the way appreciate if you could send some images of Colquhounia coccinea var. coccinea.
This should be listed as Colquhounia coccinea var. coccinea Wall. according to ...
I think this is Colquhounia coccinea, as the leaf underside is clearly not white woolly.
Flower, branching pattern looks completely different.
Sorry, my mistake, it is not what I said in a hurry.
Enclosing the sps.listed in Nepal. http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=110&taxon_id=107716
Any further opinion
However, it is better to get confirmation from Dr. Chunlei.
SK 2887 19 March 2021- Lamiaceae: 5 very high resolution images.
Location: Godawari, Lalitpur
Date: 11 March 2021
Altitude: 1600m.
Habitat : Wild
…: I feel this sp. looks slightly different from our earlier identified
two sp., Colquhounia coccinea Wall. and Colquhounia coccinea var. coccinea !
I think it is Colquhounia elegans. Thanks for sharing beautiful pictures.
I think this is Colquhounia seguinii, because Corolla tube is less than twice as long as upper lip.
If Corolla tube is more than three times as long as upper lip, it would be Colquhounia elegans.
And this one by Sawmliana looks like Colquhounia elegans. In Colquhounia elegans the flower tube is more than 3 times as long as the upper lip, and the flowers are yellow or red.
Regarding Sawmliana’s images it does not go well with Colquhounia elegans as per keys in Flora of China.
May I have your opinion on the dissected images I have sent ? elegans or seguinii ?
I think out of the two, I think
Colquhounia seguinii is more likely as per keys in
Flora of China.
It is still better to get it confirmed from Dr. Chunlei.
