Low scandent herbs; stems villous, aromatic. Leaves opposite, to 4 x 2 cm, ovate, acute, crenate, cuneate at base, hispid above and below; nerves 6 pairs, prominent, nervules reticulate; petiole 7 mm long. Flowers axillary, solitary, subsessile; bracteoles absent; calyx 7 mm long, deeply lobed, lobes 5, upper larger, hirsute; corolla 10 mm long, blue, bilabiate, upper lip erect, entire, lower lip 3-lobed; stamens 4, didynamous, anthers stipitate, of shorter stamens 1-celled; ovary glabrous; style dialated at tip. Fruit a septicidal capsule; seeds many, pitted.
