 requesting id of this parasitic plant found on trees of arunachal Pradesh : Attachments (4). 2 posts by 2 authors. i am again posting this plant for any kind of identification. I think Agapetes variegata (Roxb.) G.Don Family: Ericaceae. From the photos, the plant appears to be Agapetes variegata.  The plant is  an epiphyte and not parasitic on the host trees and develops a bulbous base with ageing.  This species is found in NE India in subtropical forests  at 2000 to  2500 m alt. and is  very attractive in flowering.  A volume on the family Ericaceae (eds.
