lovely images of wild plants from Eagle-nest (Arunachal). thanks for sharing. Hope someone will give the IDs soon… ………………………… P4230201 Looks like a Amorphophallus species. Maybe Amorphophallus dunnii… not sure at all. …………………………….. ………………………………………. For the Amorphophallus I asked the help of the Amorphophallus expert Wilbert Hetterscheid. His comments for the first green species are that it can only be Am. napalensis based on the surface of the appendix but a very unusual and interesting form as the appendix shape is not as it usually is for this species and looks more like the appendix of Am. krausei. So an unsual form of Amorphophallus napalensis . Flora Picture of the Year 2012_Ritesh Kumar Choudhary: 1 image. Posting an image of ‘Amorphophallus nepalensis (Wall.) Bogner & Mayo’ (Araceae) as my ‘Flora Picture of the Year 2012’. This plant is special because of its restricted distribution in E. Himalayan region of India, Nepal and Bangladesh only. To me, it is more special because I had collected it during a very difficult trek in the Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. Cannot forget the day when I was crossing through a small cane bridge which partly broke down and I was about to fall in the turbulent Nyiggong river. Thanks to my field assistant, a local boy, who saved my life as well as the camera. 🙂 Hope you’ll like the photo. A really wonderful image with an exceptional once in a lifetime moment. Awesome picture and adventurous trek!!… Do you think he will remember you when you return with some fancy foreign stuff as gift for him? but I bet he being one of those salts of the earth type did it spontaneously. Gladdens the heart when I read your story. Yes … it was spontaneous and I hope to meet that boy again.. Your adventure was worth it. Crossing bamboo or cane bridges always gives me the jitters! Thank God the boy was with you. Nice story associated with a beautiful plant. I have added this to Flora Picture 2012 Fwd: Sharing Thomsonia napalensis : 1 post by 1 author. Yes … I think you are right Sir i think Tacca leontopetaloides or Other Tacca sp. Dioscoreaceae It is not the one. Thank you for the hint. Amorphophallus bulbifer (Roxb.) Blume ?? efn says 300-900m. How can we verify the elevation of its habitat. Thanks, … for the genus id. To me appears more closer to images at Amorphophallus paeoniifolius (Dennst.) Nicolson rather than those at Amorphophallus bulbifer (Roxb.) Blume Thank you … but a bit confusion about the elevation. Where is the elevation given in your link? may be he means when he originally submitted it he said 5000 feet above sl. did you submit this case to whats app or facebook groups also? is that the source of elevation question?? EFN : Secondary conditions, secondary forests or highly disturbed areas, in dappled shade or fully exposed; sea level to 800 m. Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Taiwan, Yunnan [Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, New Guinea, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam; N Australia, Pacific islands; naturalized in Indian Ocean islands (Seychelles)].
