Blumea laciniata from Panni khoh MP
pls validate
This herb was shot on 20-1-12 from a somewhat shady place in Panni Khoh water fall
Having strong odour this herb was about 1 feet high only

If this plant has strong odour this may not be Blumea laciniata DC.
I checked two Blumea today and found that B. lacera DC. has strong odour, somewhat like that of merigold flowers, but B. laciniata has much less odour and the scent is different.
I attach combined photographs of both the species, they are growing side by side, both are between 1 ft to 1.25 ft. (5 images.)
I copy old records of Blumea laciniata from ‘Bengal Plants’, ‘Flora of British India’ and ‘Flora Indica’ :-
  1. Leaves on upper part of stem few, large, laciniate ……… (Bengal Plants)
  2. Usually taller than B. lacera, from which it is difficult to distinguish specimens with leaves more entire than usual…… Roxburgh says that this differ from B. lacera in having all the leaves laciniate, to which i suppose may be added its being scentless. ….. (F. B. I.)
  3. Of Blumea lacera, FLORA INDICA notes, “…. The whole plant has a pretty strong smell of turpentine.”

I think this plant is some other species than B. lacera or B. laciniata.

I paste the links of related pages of old records :-

Thank you,

Closest I can as per comparative images at Blumea is Blumea oxyodonta DC.

I think it may not be Blumea oxydonta also.
