Is it Cinnamomum aromaticum ? : 4 posts by 3 authors. Attachments (1).
Date : 25-05-2012. Habitat : Wild. Habit : Medium sized evergreen tree with aromatic leaves

From where did you collect this?

I think … is posting his pictures taken in Mizoram.
… pl. confirm.

To me the images seem to be of Cinnamomum tamala.

It does appear to be Cinnamomum. The various spp are very similar vegetatively. Whether C. tamala or C. zeylanicum can be determined easily by chewing the leaves (the un-taxonomical method!!).
If the leaves taste like tezpatta it is C. tamala.
However if it tastes like ‘dalchini’, it may be C. zeylanicum or even C. bejholgota.

I am not very familiar with C. aromaticum, so may not be of much help

This is same as at MS,Oct.,2024/04 Cinnamomum sp. for id

Is this Cinnamomum impressinervium ?

Cinnamomum burmanni I think

Who told you ?

Nobody tell me sir.

Bark aromatic. Both wild and cultivated.

If bark is aromatic than it may be this species (Cinnamomum burmanni) as per

The bark is aromatic.  The roots which also aromatic and pungent, used to collect by local people. The Mizo name for this tree is Thakthing. This tree was identified by some people as Cinnamomum verum.

Pl. post keys with species in your area from your book.

After going through the keys and GBIF specimens, I feel it may be Cinnamomum impressinervium (GBIF specimen (onetwo and three) compared to Cinnamomum tamala  (GBIF specimen (onetwo and three).

Cinnamomum burmanni (Nees & T. Nees) Bl. as per discussions at Is it Cinnamomum aromaticum ?
