Continued use of your plant images by RBG Kew:
You were previously in contact with … regarding Kew’s use of your images on the “Plants of the World” (POWO) website.
We remain extremely grateful for your support. Kew continues to grow its scientific datasets and to extend how we communicate about plants to different audiences. We are writing, therefore, to seek your permission for RBG Kew to use your images for other Kew science projects and websites.
You previously authorised Kew’s use of your images whilst retaining all copyright rights. We now seek your approval of our wider use for Kew websites.
In the short term we wish to use your images for the public-facing scientific data portal: “Medicinal Plant Names Services” www.kew.org/mpns . This website focuses on the correct names for plants that are used as herbal medicines and natural products. In the longer term we aim to extend the scope to “Plants for Health”. We propose using your images in these websites as they are now used in POWO:
- your original high-quality images will not be made available.
- each of your images will be independently credited using your chosen copyright name.
- all your images will explicitly say “all rights reserved”.
- RBG Kew will not present or share any further information about yourself.
We hope that you can agree to this further NON-COMMERCIAL use of your images by RBG Kew.
Please can you reply to this email by 31/01/2025 and let us know:
- “YES” – if you agree to NON-COMMERCIAL use of your images by RBG Kew websites like MPNS OR
- “NO” – if you prefer that your images only be used for Plants of the World Online
If we do not hear back then we will assume that you prefer us NOT to use your images more widely within Kew.
I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks again for your support and interest.
Yours sincerely,
……………………
Is this for efi ?
I do not think so.
As eFI do not give anybody the right to use anybody’s images except with their permission.
