Sighting: Sakaleshpur, Hassan, Karnataka, about 900 msl Date: 18-02-2016 and 19-02-2016 Beautiful shots !!!!. I had seen this plant 9 years ago and collected some from Rose mala, Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary, Kulathupuzha, Trivandrum Some one can undertake a good study on this. Prof. S.R.Yadav once reported that it mimics the bee and is pollinated by sexual deception. Although no one ever saw a bee pollinating this flower. Dr. Alex Kocyan, a world renowned expert on the group said that there is no sexual deception in any of the Indian orchids including Cottonia. There could be a nice PhD work on this.
