ANAPR21 Desmos chinensis Lour. (syn. Desmos lawii (Hook.f. & Thomson) Saff.) : 2 posts by 2 authors. Attachments (7) Family: Annonaceae So far as I know, it is a variable species. Both are different as per A conspectus of Indo-Burmese Annonaceae by I. M. Turner- Nordic Journal of Botany 33: 257–299, 2015- Species in India with distribution: Desmos chinensis Lour.- India; Bhutan; Bangladesh; Burma Desmos dumosus (Roxb.) Saff.- India [West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Mizoram]; Bhutan; Bangladesh; Burma Desmos lawii (Hook. f. & Thomson) Saff.- India [Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu] …………………………………………………………….. Which one you are referring to here ? I am attaching herewith an image of the possible isolectotype of Desmos lawii downloaded from the website of Kew herbarium (K 000691354) for comparison. Image of the lectotype is available at the website of Gray Herbarium (GH 00039292). While Desmos chinensis is a widespread species, the other, i. e. D. lawii, recognized by Ian Turner (2015) as a distinct species, is restricted to peninsular India. The latter was once merged with D. chinensis with a varietal status. Thank you very much … for bringing up this descrepancy. Thank you too, for clarifying, …
