Identifying a pollinator of a particular species must be a tedious job with great patience. I do not know whether this hoverfly is generalist or specific to this orchid (egg laying though indicate specific relationship) this case is very similar to the co-evolution of Yucca whiplei and Pronuba yuccasela case. Attachments (5) Epipactis veratrifolia Eastern Marsh Helleborine Family – Orchidaceae This beautiful Orchid is highly specific in habitat and is found near marshy habitat . Recently I found good population (more than 60 plants) of this beautiful Orchid growing near the local ravines along the edges of wheat field . Associated species includes Vicia sativa, Gentiana pedicellata, Medicago polymorpha and Saccharum sp. Photographed at Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh Altitude – 750metres Dated – 10/3/2018 Very pretty.
