Photographed at Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. Altitude – 800meters asl. June 2018 Any chances of this being Imperata cylinderica…?
Thanks … but I don’t think it’s Imperata cylinderica(Cotton grass) as inflorescence is not fuzzy and is entirely different.
Alopecurus geniculatus Thanks … but to me it looks different from Alopecurus geniculatus as this grass doesn’t occurs in marshy habitat ike in Alopecurus geniculatus it grows on sandy soil along rocks, also inflorescence looks different from A.geniculatus.
I recently found this grass again and after studying it , I am at the conclusion that this is Eulaliopsis binata (Bhabar grass) as that is found on dry slopes of lower Himalayas.
The images of Eulaliopsis binata present on site looks matching and is also matching with illustration present on Flora of Pakistan. Yes. Eulaliopsis binata. An important grass in the Shiwaliks. Used for making ropes due to the long leaves during monsoons. Called Bhabhar ghas or Baib ghas locally.
