Then poochi maram / rudraksha (kattu) maram in Tamil. The tree is supposed to withstand high pollution levels and also filters dust and soot, but not very attractive. Dear friends, Broussonetia papyrifera– if I am not mistaken. Paper Mulberry. Lovely pic Many thanks … for suggesting the ID; but I think the fruit and leaves of posted plant differ from that of Broussonetia papyrifera. I too think it could be Guazuma ulmifolia.
Leaves of Paper Mulberry are quite different. I also think that it is Guazuma ulmifolia. Thank you very very much … for your thought. Only the star shape at the top of the fruit is looking a bit different from the close ups I have clicked of the same at Lalbagh.
I can post a close up of my fruit if the need be. …, you may please post photo of fruit here just for sake of comparison. It will also help in validation of the ID. Here are a few of my pictures.

Guazuma ulmifolia: One more very interesting tree commonly known as Bhadraksh, or false rudraksha, botanical name Guazuma ulmifolia is fruitng very profusely in Rani Bagh, Mumbai. I was lucky to get to see some flowers too. – This is a very common tree in Chennai. Grows wild. This is known as thenpuchi maram in Tamil. This is supposed to withstand severe air pollution! – There are a large number of these trees in IIT Madras campus. It was planted as part of an ayurvedic garden.
Was planted 4 years back. Growing well with profuse flowers and fruits.
The soil in which it is growing is black soil.
Growing in Govardhan Eco Village (110km north of Mumbai)
I found the pictured seeds when i cut the fruit.
