I am a little confused about the binomial… it was labelled H. peruviana… The flowers and growth habit of this decorative plant is same as the heliotropes I have been growing myself and the cases I showed here this week.. they are called Heliotopium araborescens, and it has originated in the highlands of Peru…
Heliotopium arborescens and H. peruviana are considered synonyms now in the plant list, though under review and with two star level of confidence only…
This H. peruviana is growing in a pot, about 9 inches in diameter, about 10 or so inches deep and it is staked profusely, yet it struck me that stakes or not the leaves have a tendency to droop… it was well watered, i tested, so it was not the water in the soil…or lack of it… it was also february, so not too hot either to have perspired itself to drying/drooping stage…
Secondly the leaves color is quite deep green with reddish tinge… leaning towards being bronze …
This was at the winter flower show at the HORT this february in Kolkata.
So my question: is H. peruviana same as H. arborescens?

ID key, plus documents (one from Chile) available at – i go to these and many more sites… I cant swear by it… what program allows you to check exif of submitted fotos I use “irfanview” as image editor and it gives me EXIF info…, if camera setting (date & time) is wrong it will display wrong date & time – http://www.irfanview.com/ As expected according to orthography it should be Heliotropium pervuvianum (and not perruviana) according to both GRIN and The Plant List and yes the correct name now is H. arborescens L. Image files downloaded from websites or image modified by some other software may not show any EXIF data…. don’t know why. Only original or resized / enhanced image gives EXIF data.
I opened your files (attached in the mails) using ‘irfanview’ and it gave me all those info.

The first two pictures are from very hot north american southwest… third picture from the north east in a border…. last two pictures are from a cultivar names ‘Marine’… which is very popular now…
Flowers can even be white… could not put my hands on my pics right now…

here is another plant from Warsaw. Please identify it. Is it by any chance Erythronium dens-canis?
