Sessile spikelet: lanceolate, to 3.5 mm. Lower glume lanceolate, to 3 mm, beaked, 5-nerved, puberulous at beak, scabrid; upper glume to 3 mm, 3-nerved, shortly aristate; lower lemma to 2 mm; upper lemma narrow, to 1.5 mm, awn to 1 cm.
