Clicked on 30.3.26 on way to Budher cave (9200 ft.) from Chakrata (7000 ft.) area, Uttarakhand.


I wonder if the “clicker” of hasty photographs knows that to identify ferns one usually needs to show the base of the lamina, say the lowest 5 or 6 pairs of pinnae if it is a fern like this, top surface. and in the same photo showing the stipe complete with its scales?  Sori can be shown in a different photograph.
Photography involves taking some care to show the right parts, definitely not just “clicking”.
This is Polystichum piceopaleaceum.
