Prunella vulgaris var. vulgaris ABJUN01/07 : 2 posts by 2 authors. 5 images. On a mountain walk last Sunday, I spotted several of these plants. I think these are what are known as Self-heal or Heal-all referring to their use in old times to cure a diverse number of ailments. Please advise.

One in the mint family I think. I would like to know genus and sp. Prunella vulgaris L.!
. Is this Salvia officinalis: 1 high res. image.
Location: Rajouri j and k Habit: Herb Prunella vulgaris L. Prunella vulgaris. Yes Prunella vulgaris very common in J & K . Characteristics:
Leaves are same like Prunella vulgaris
Corolla is whitish in colour having brown spot at top of the upper lip of the corolla
Corolla have sparse trichomesÂ
Habitat: bank of wetland
Anthers are wrinkled brownish in colour. I think P. vulgaris only, which is reported to have white flowers also according to eFlora of China. P.vulgaris doesn’t have brown spots on corolla Does any other species reported from the area? No sir.. only P.vulgaris Lamium album L. ?? Lamium album has flowers in few flowered axillary clusters, upper lip of corolla overarching and bifid, calyx much narrower and subtending bracts never so large. Brown spots are not on every petal…there I assume it is insect/water damage…my image has similar. My vote goes to Prunella vulgaris alba… the flowers are always on the top.
Pics 1-4
Lamium album is very different… the flowers are not all on the top but in whorls in the leaf axis, and go up the stem.
leaves are very different.
Pics 5 to end.
. . Prunella vulgaris: 2 high res. images. In kashmir dried flowers are used in the treatment of minor fractures and joint pains
Yes Prunella vulgaris, beautiful images. Yes, I also agree. . References:
