Suffrutescent herbs or low shrubs, 1-2 m tall; root and rhizome red. Stem herbaceous with obvious pith. Leaves imparipinnate with stipules; leaflets 3-5, elliptical, ovate, lanceolate, 4-15 cm long, 1.5-2.5 cm wide, acuminate at apex, base obtuse to rounded and oblique, serrulate, sparely pubescent on upper surface, densely pubescent on the veins. Inflorescence a terminal compound corymb, ca. 15 cm. Flowers white, on slender pedicel, calyx lobes triangular, ca. 0.5 mm long, corolla rotate, 5-lobed, ovate, ca. 1.5 mm long, stamen 5, alternating with corolla lobes, anthers rounded, yellow; ovary 3-celled, style very short, stigma 3-lobed. Fruits globose, fleshy, red.

Undershrub or perennial herb about 4-8 ft tall. Stem herbaceous, rhizome with fibrous roots, Pith red or white. Leaves opposite, imparipinnate, leaflets 5-9, narrowly oblong-lanceolate 5-15 x 2-3 cm across, puberulous or nearly glabrous, base obtuse, margin serrate, apex acuminate, except the terminal leaflet, remaining leaflets opposite, lateral veins 6-12 along either side of midvein. Inflorescence terminal multiparous umbellate cyme, grandular hairy and 15-20 cm in diameter in full bloom. Flowers hermaphrodite, actinomorphic, about 5 mm in diameter. Calyx lobes 5, triangular, about 0.5 mm long, pubescent, corolla white, stamens 5, anther yellow, styles short or nearly absent, stigma tri-lobed, ovary 3 loculed. Fruit drupe bright red, globose, 0.3 cm in diameter.

Flowering/Fruiting: May-August.

Understory shrub of forests at an altitude of about 4,000 to 10,000 ft; and cultivated.

To me appears close to Sambucus nigra L. an introduced species.

It grows Wild near the ravine of the forests. I think it is indigenous sp. It is about 2-5 m. high with large pith.

What are the species reported from there?
