Vernonia species;
DV :: 31MAR11 – 0447: A small – medium sized tree, sighted from long distance in low light. Not sure whether the tree is in fruiting OR flowering. Date/Time : March 31, 2011 at 4.47pm IST Location Place : Kodagu Valley Resort, Coorg … 12.441958, 75.717025 (on Google maps <http://goo.gl/maps/VGVL>) Altitude : 3690 ft (above mean sea level) This could be *Vernonia arborea*. Yes even i guess Vernonia, (may be V. acuminata, pls check correct name for the same) My photos are all low-light-long shots making it difficult for all of us to ID. Requesting id: observed this flowering herb/ shrub in full bloom, attracting variety of butterflies. Couldn’t zero on species. Is it Vernonia? I think this can otherwise be Centratherum sp. (may be C. anthelminticum).
