Habitat wild
Plant Habit- grass
Height/Length- 1/2 to 1foot
Leaves – green blades
Flowers look green
Fruits Seeds-i do not know if the white colored are seeds

The first image is probably of Cyperus rotundus.

The first image has two sps. 1. Cyperus sp. 2. Eragrostis tenella– possibly.
second Image – Eragrostis tenella – may be.

I can’t say anything on the first photograph but It’s not a member of Cyperaceae; I’m confirmed. The second one looks like Eragrostis tenella (L.) P. Beauv. ex Roem et Schult.

The first image has two sps. 1. Cyperus squarossus. 2. Eragrostis tenella– possibly.
second Image – Eragrostis tenella – may be.

I could not find the 1st plant again to photograph but the second I could. Attaching pics of the same. Whenever I find the 1st plant I will try to post better pics

i guess first 3 photos are same and look like Eragrostis tenella as said by other members, and last 3 photos are different and may be Panicum species??

grass Arundinella sp.? ID from Hooghly 11-6-12 SK1:

I recorded the attached pictures in two places, the first three pics are from beside a pond and the rest pics are from my home yard.
Could this be Arundinella pumila (Hochst.) Steud. ?
Species : unknown
Habit & Habitat : grass, avg. 1 foot height, very common
Date : 9/6/12 & 10/6/12
Place : Nalikul (Hooghly)

May Species of Eragrostic ???????????

Searched the net and found that a number of species belong to Eragrostis genus are found in West Bengal – Link.
Some images of Eragrostis amabillis that closely match –

It may be Eragrostic viscosa

Thank you very much for the for the probable ID of this grass.
I searched the net to learn more about Eragrostis viscosa. The flora of Pakistan describes this grass and gives two synonyms – 1) Poa viscosa Retz. and 2) Eragrostis tenella var. viscosa (Retz.) Staf. – http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=5&taxon_id=242320762. While the first synonym is supported by KEW (http://www.theplantlist.org/tpl/record/kew-413373) the second synonym, according to KEW, seems to bear some confusion. However, the description of the Eragrostis viscosa, available in the Pakistan Flora matches well with the grass i uploaded in this post.
However, the flora of Pakistan also noted that there is apparently no sharp difference between Eragrostis tenella and E. viscosa (http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=5&taxon_id=242320762).

must be eragrostis tenella but if sticky leaves and stem with a ring glands near nodes then eragrostis viscosa

Today i checked the grass and it was not sticky.
I checked three individuals form the same area and even used a very thin piece of paper, the type used for cigarette manufacturing, to test the stickiness of the grass.
So, this grass is likely to be Eragrostis tenella.

kindly help Id this plant at Pune. Id not confirmed for my previous post of the same. I have not come across this plant again

There seems to be two plants here – one a sedge Cyperus sp. and one a grass. The cyperus sp may be C. iria. I am not 100 % sure.
Here is a link to some Cyperus sp

The plant with long leaves, auricles (bristles at the junction of leaf sheath and lamina) and the inflorescence to the right of the picture is the grass species Eragrostis tenella. The small leaved plant with aggregate cluster of spikelets is Cyperus sp. (not C.iria). Also check Pycerus sp.

Yes Eragrostisseems to be E. viscosa or E. unioloides

The grass is Eragrostis amabilis whose synonym is Eragrostis tenella

most probably Eragrostis tenella

Eragrostis tenella. If it is sticky to touch, especially just below the inflorescence, or if you find glandular patches just below the inflorescence, then it could be E.tenella var.viscosa also called E.viscosa by several authors.

Hope attached images are Eragrostis tenella (L.) P.Beauv. ex Roem. & Schult. Please validate.
Date :03.09.2014
Location: Assam
Family : Poaceae
Genus & species : Eragrostis tenella (L.) P.Beauv. ex Roem. & Schult.
Habitat: Grows wild on open field in hilly area
Habit :Herb

It seems Eragrostis tenella only, E. viscosa also very close to it but one can find gummy secretion at the base of Inflorescence.
