Flowersofindia site;

All of us like to look at those pretty flowers blooming all around, especially during winter and spring. Remember that tree laden with yellow flowers, which hang like bunches of grapes? How often have you wondered: What’s that flower? Nobody around you seems to know the answer. There was a time, when a lot of people knew about a lot of flowers. But for the city bred individual, flowers are only like pretty pictures. The pace of city life tends to alienate the individual from mother nature, which brought him into existence in the first place.

Flowers of India is aimed at having information about all the flowers found in India, with their common names, especially in Indian
languages
, pictures and habitat, easily available in one place. This is meant to be a place you can look at if you saw a flower and wanted to know more about it. Knowing more about flowers, and then going out and having a look at them, will be more like communing with nature. Pl. see complete details at link:

Android app for Flowers of India : 7 posts by 4 authors.

An android app has been created to make it easy to browse www.flowersofindia.net using smartphone or tablet computer.
Open the following link in (Google) Play Store, and install:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ionicframework.flowersofindia369125

Congrats, …!  The app looks and works great!

I don’t know how it works. But can it be tried for efloraofindia also ?

Good thinking, … I am sure, it should be possible.

It seems like any website can be converted into an android app using Android Studio!

Check this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzlNP9nS6fo

for apple store? too??

Unfortunately not for Apple store yet. But u can access m.flowersofindia.net in a browser in iPhone/iPad for a somewhat equivalent affect

Thanks … nice to see u

i do that m. xxxx….. comes up on its own

…, it is good to be compatible in every way to reach audience. The mobile app is just another way to reach the site; which otherwise a person had to enter the URL in mobile browser.

I am not conversant with mobile apps; so do not know how easy / difficult it is to get it done for eFI.

I had long back asked the query in the group whether we have any mobile app developer who can help the plant community, but there were no responses.

Flowers of India (FOI) completes 10 years on 15.5.15.

Thanks to Tabish ji & his team for a new beginning 10 years back.

Congratulations Flowers Of India! It is here where my study began.

Thanks a bunch, … For a long time your site was where we went to look at some indian flowers whenever nostalgia struck and congratulations on this long journey

Must thanks to Thingam too, first flowers I saw were photographed by her.

Lucky to belong to a group which within 10 years has already pooled together nearly one third of Indian Floristic wealth with excellent photographs, description and location, an open access system available to one and all. The unique feature of this venture is that founder of this website and major contributors (except a few including me) have no formal training in botany and have made this great contribution solely because of their love for nature and photography. One plus point of this website is that it is dynamic and changes in identification and nomenclature are made through regular interactions between the contributors and visitors to the website. Congrats Tabish ji and all contributors.

Hearty congratulations to dear Tabish and Girija.

Flowers of India is the first reference site that I came across during my start of journey with flora; the site and its substance inspired me to the greatest extent. Keep up the good work, Tabish !!

Many thanks to the team of Flowers of India site for producing this huge collection of quality pictures.

Many congratulations Tabish Ji and every contributor, FOI is a great compilation indeed, a ready reckoner…really appreciable efforts by these nature loving people, this will surely go long ways and scale further elevations…!!

Congratulations to the Team of Flowers of India with lots of thanks for their efforts and team work spirit.

Congratulations to all who have made this possible. May the FOI family keep growing.

15th May 2005, the day when “Flowers of india” site was launched. Today it has completed 10 years and very fact that it has been noticed by one and all, & sustained is probably due to clear vision and hard work of Team FOI. Hearty Congratulations Dear Tabish, Girija and entire Flowers of India team for this success.

Three cheers for leading contributors
