Hygrophila heinei Sreem., Bull. Bot. Surv. India 10: 223 1969. (syn: Cardanthera uliginosa Buch.-Ham.; Hygrophila pseudopolysperma E.Hossain (Unresolved); Ruellia uliginosa L.f. (Unresolved); Synnema uliginosum Kuntze (Unresolved));
This species is endemic to India. It is distributed in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Sikkim and Tamil Nadu; probably endemic to Indian subcontinent (Cook 1996). There are also representative specimens from Kerala are available at Madras Herbarium. Its presence is Sri Lanka has been quoted, however it is not present in this country (Dinesh Albertson pers. comm. 2010)
In shallow water, in swamps and rice fields and also reported from sugarcane fields (Cook 1996).
This species is threatened by habitat loss due to wetland encroachment and habitat conversion.

Thank you sir, just read from google that this is a good aquarium plant, because the lower leaves gets dissected when submersed.

This is Hygrophila heinei Sreemadh. (Acanthaceae). It is very commonly seen in the wetlands of Tanjavur, Nagapattinam and Tirunelveli districts.
