Yes, it is Safed Musli. It is growing on the roots of Royal Palm in my house.

If you could give sizes (whole plant, leaves, inflorescence and flowers) it would avoid confusion since the picture does not indicate the required information for an ID. My flora for”Photo of the Year 2011″: This may not be the best photo of mine, but has some significance for me. Generally monsoon is a difficult place for photography here. I was bracing for a long period of inactivity, but only after a couple of days rain on a better day I ventured out early morning and I came across this beautiful flower which I had missed last year. That was a good omen and start for the new season, and surely many new varities I had missed last season.

Could this be Haemodoraceae?

…………somewhat similar to Turrea villosa or Naregamia alata.
Such a wonderful flower. Do you have any pictures of leaves? It appears to be a shrub isn’t it?

some one please tell me why is there some profound gross difference, between the wiki picture and these pictures? stages of flower unfurling or male vs female flowers???????
or if I am missing something.?
