Young shoots sericeus tomentose. Leaves 9-13 x 3-4 cm, ovate-oblong, apex acute, base rounded, glaucous below, nerves 8 pairs. Flowers solitary, axillary; pedicels 2-4 cm long, slender, bracteate; sepals to 9 x 6 mm, obovate, pubescent, yellowish green; petals biseriate, 5-7 x 0.5 cm, linear-oblong, pubescent; stamens 1 mm long; ovaries many, densely hairy, stigma globose, red. Fruitlets to 7 x 6 mm, globose-oblong, stipitate, beaked; seeds globose; stipe 1 cm long, slender. Flowering and fruiting: October-January

The form of the corolla seems to be quite variable in this species. There is another species D. viridiflorus distributed in Kerala, but the differences seem very unclear to me. Which one you are referring to here ? I am attaching herewith an image of the possible isolectotype of Desmos lawii downloaded from the website of Kew herbarium (K 000691354) for comparison. Image of the lectotype is available at the website of Gray Herbarium (GH 00039292). While Desmos chinensis is a widespread species, the other, i. e. D. lawii, recognized by Ian Turner (2015) as a distinct species, is restricted to peninsular India. The latter was once merged with D. chinensis with a varietal status.
