Please help me in identifying this tree species of 8 m tall. I suspect this to be a Drypetes species.
Or could this be any Annonacaeae?
Habitat: semi-evergreen forest
Place: Vellimalai RF, Megamalai wls, Theni dist., TN
Date: 02 October 2013
May be Alphonsea sp.
The field character for identifying a Drypetes is oblique/unequal base of leaves which is not the case here.
I think this could be a species of Alphonsea or Miliusa (Annonaceae). Normally leaf base of Drypetes spp. are oblique. But here it is equal.
To me appears close to Alphonsea lutea (Roxb.) Hook.f. & Thomson as per images, details and references herein.
This is Mitrephora heyneana
