Trachelospermum jasminoides is a species of flowering plant in the family Apocynaceae, native to eastern and southeastern Asia (Japan, Korea, southern China and Vietnam). Common names include star jasmine, Confederate jasmine and trader’s compass.[1][2]

Trachelospermum jasminoides is an evergreen woody liana growing to 10 feet (3.0 m) high. The leaves are opposite, oval to lanceolate, 2–10 cm long and 1-4.5 cm broad, with an entire margin and an acuminate apex.
The fragrant flowers are white, 1–2 cm diameter, with a tube-like corolla opening out into five petal-like lobes. The fruit is a slender follicle 10–25 cm long and 3–10 mm broad, containing numerous seeds.[1]
A valuable perfume oil is extracted from the steam distilled or tinctured flowers and used in high end perfumery. In a dilute form, tinctured flowers are much used in Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai incenses. A bast fibre is produced from the stems.[1]
Trachelospermum jasminoides is commonly grown as an ornamental plant and houseplant. In gardens, public landscapes, and parks it is used as a climbing vine, a groundcover, and a fragrant potted plant on terraces and patios. It will flower in full sun, partial shade, or total shade, and requires well-drained soil (if constantly kept damp it may succumb to fungal infection), moderate water, moderate fertilizer, and a climbing structure (whether a trellis or another plant is secondary). Propagation is most commonly done with cuttings/ clones.[3]

My sister sent me these photos from Atlant. Locally called jasmine, I have never seen it in India.
Mildly fragrant flowers. They look closer to Tagar than to Jasmine. Please help in identification.
Common name would be really helpful.

its confederate jasmine very common in the southern us states’ nurseries and the big box stores
binomial : Trachelospermum jasminoides
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trachelospermum_jasminoides

Thanks … They also call it Star Jasmine. It does belong to the Oleander family. And my name is …
Any suggestion if it is possible to get this plant in India?

I have not seen it in west bengal nurseries
but that’s not here nor there
I may not have been there at the right time when a few were imported from other states or towns!!!

Nasik and Poona seem to have a lot of very active nurseries and they seem to bring in unusual plants, my plumeria pudica was brought in by a local nursery from “out west” he wont tell me which one?
ask your Friends or social media in those towns, may be?
there is really no website here in india for any big nursery like there are in usa
may be our other members would know …particularly those who do a lot gardening.. like ajinkya, m swamy et al.

These were decorating the hedges of the gardens in the city in May 2016. They were spotted at many places.
The flowers are highly fragrant, the entire air was filled with their beautiful fragrance, particularly in the evenings.
Requested to please provide ID. Are they some Tabernaemontana?
