This was spotted On the way to Hampta Pass in Manali region Also frequent in alpines of Uttarakhand and locally called as ‘Guggal’ or ‘Dhoop’ for its aromatic rootstocks which are burnt in Havan. .
Thanks a lot … for this feedback, I was not sure about the id, the pics are also not decisive.. The pictures are pretty clear, learning the family. The images seem to be of Tanacetum dolichophyllum The pictures and description matches with Tanacetum dolichophyllum from the FOH by Polunin and Stainton.

Looks like Tanacetum dolichophyllum
I found the first plant near a place called Ilaqa which is about an hour-hike from Triund and is situated at about 3100m. After sighting the first plant I kept on seeing them till 3400m beyond which I did not walk. The last photo of a cluster of them is taken at that altitude. Please correct me if I have made a mistake in the identification. I found out after returning that it is called ‘dhoop’ in Hindi and presume that this plant is used in making the resinous putty like black incense of the same name
