On 20-10-11 on the way to Chakrata we also visited TDL Herbal Garden and we came across a plant named as Eclipia alba (Eclipta alba) Bhringraj. But plant does not looks like E alba rather match with Wedelia sp I identified this as Wedelia calendulacea Because this plant also called as Bhringraj pls see Just as I was to type Wedelia chinensis, I paused to do some research. Yes the plant according to FBI and herbal websites is W. calendulacea (L.) Less, but it is now considered as synonym of W. chinensis. Thanks Sir for confirmation and information. See the fate of our herbal Gardens, no authenticity of any name Yes … Wedelia chinensis also known as Peela Bhringraj. The leaves when crushed and rubbed on hand will yield black colour dye.
Wedelia chinensis, photographed in Herbal Garden, Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi, 213 m asl, a spreading herb with entire or obscurely lobed margin; photographed on 20-4-2010. Please validate. I’ve seen Sphagneticola calendulacea syn. Wedelia chinensis in Chhindwara (M.P.). Your Photographs matches with the same plant Thanks … for validation I would be interested to know about correct name. GRIN which we largely rely for nomenclature does recognise Wedelia chinensis. Under genus Sphagneticola it includes S. trilobata based on Wedelia trilobata, but no mention of Sphagneticola calendulacea. May be you can throw some more light. Thanks …, I got the reference- Nus
Asteraceae Fortnight : Radiate heads : Wedelia chinensis (Osbeck) Merr.? : sk02 : Attachments (3). 8 posts by 3 authors. These 1 ft or less herbs are growing beside a pond, in a shady place under bamboo thickets. Nice depiction At the time of taking pictures I thought it was Wedelia trilobata. I didn’t take care. But as i was browsing my records, this morning, it occurred to me that it might be another. I will try to capture more features within a day or two. I have taken more pictures today, from the same place and of the same population. It is interesting to note that this plant has both, axillary and terminal head on long peduncle. I was amused at these two very similar plants being under different genera now: Wedelia chinensis & Sphagneticola trilobata (L.) Pruski Finally searched a lot & decided to replace Wedelia chinensis page with Sphagneticola calendulacea as per Flora of Flora of China & as per efi thread: [efloraofindia:32918] Wedelia chinensis from Delhi I hope this is OK. Thank you very much. Please ignore – . Asteraceae Fortnight Part 1-Radiate Heads: Sphagneticola calendulacea (Linnaeus) Pruski. from Delhi-GS109 : Attachments (3). 1 post by 1 author. Asteraceae for ID : Nasik : 06DEC20 : AK-11: 2 images. Seen along a road. The flower looks close to Wedelia. Could be Wedelia texana Thanks, … Wedelia texana is not listed in CoL and POWO. However, it is listed in The Plant List but distribution is not shown in GCC (nom. inval.). I think posted plant may be Sphagneticola calendulacea (Linnaeus) Pruski as per comparative images at Sphagneticola |
