I have seen this elsewhere as well but, in all cases I have not seen any leaves.

String of pearls Senecio rowleyanus- its not of this weeks families, its a daisy if I remember correctly. well wiki says its and aster family member http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Senecio_rowleyanus. so the string of bananas this morning and this donot belong here.. by the way.. did you get to look at your pic for that case and enlarge the upper left corner and send in… to see the flower?

May be in exotic Senecio (Asteraceae). Some related species are in eFI are there.

yes, … definitely string of pearls: Senecio rowleyanus.. a popular hanging basket houseplant
look at the flower and next time you see them smell- smells of cinnamon (how many asteraceae flowers you know that smells of exotic spice?) but if you are allergic to cinnamon you’ll sneeze and dont keep it in you bedroom… headaches occur
Botanically the round shape of the leaves and a small vertical “glass window” identifies all these stringed senecios.. no matter what the shape of the leaves (See your pic 2) hope this helps

look closely, the small slit or glass like translucency is a dead give away….

great, that small glass or jelly like window clinches the identification. did you smell the flowers. they are so lovely and unique. did you notice a cinnamon type aroma? i see it esp in southern California, where the climate allows growth of these peas in long luxuriant cascades with very many flowers, people cant resist smelling the flowers, |
