This plant is reported from Mandi. Himachal Pradesh. It seems like Cirsium sp. but I am not that sure. You are requested to provide assistance.

This should be Serratula pallida in my opinion….!!

The specimen by … to me looks like Tricholepis, most probably T. elongata.

Serratula does not have spiny involucre, there is a good image in Flora Simlensis.

I will take care to record detailed pics in next encounter, but for sure my plant as well as this posted plant has spiny involucre, thus I need to reconsider the id…!!

Taken as Klasea pallida (DC.) J.Holub, Preslia 70(2): 106 (1998):. 106 1998. (Syn: Serratula pallida DC., Prodr. 6:670. 1838 (“1837”)) in view of Download – IAAT (Klasea pallida (DC.) Holub as accepted name & Serratula pallida DC. as syn.- Tricholepis raghavendrae Saklani & L.B. Chaudhary is conspecific with Serratula pallida DC., which is currently treated under Klasea Cass.)

This plant is confusing me for the last 3-4 years. Some of its characteristics are matching with Tricholepis elongata (as suggested here by …) and some with Serratula pallida. My photographs are more near to recently named species Tricholepis raghavendrae, except for flower colour. It is pale in my case but purplish in Tricholepis raghavendrae. But all the available literature for this area points towards T. elongata.
Hope some conclusion will emerge soon.
