The flower opens by 20.00h and abscise by early morning hours. Hence we wouldn’t see flowers on the tree in the day time. But we get flowers from the ground, beneath the tree, in the day.

In a way you are right, but on point of fact, I have seen more flowers on the trees than on the ground even in the late evenings when I am returning to Bombay.
Sending a few of my photographs…. as seen they were all taken in broad daylight.

Not knowing that the flowers open in the evening(?)
Plenty of these are present on the Tekdis near my house. Have seen the flowers during different times of the day but didn’t notice this specifically (May be most of my non weekend visits are in the evening)
Adding some of my pictures.

Yes, there is one in Victoria Memorial in Kolkata, very old, very tall, taller than 60 feet at least…
Mr Benthall lists it as Dolichandrone (please note there is an h after the c) spathacea…

… wonder if that’s a synonym? Although the plant list lists : Spathodea falcata Wall. ex DC. URL:
http://www.theplantlist.org/tpl/record/kew-320745

Yes it is Dolichandron falcata;
Medshingi मेडशिंगी
Earlier the leaves appeared tome of the size of ‘Waras’ but they are much smaller than that. Illusion due to close up pictures.
There are many trees on Vetal Tekdi. You have mentioned the size of the tree as 10 m. ??? Most trees I found are smaller say max 6-7m.
