Tree For ID- 251111 NS1:
Photographed @ Jaipur. Dated- 07.11.11 It was a planted at road side.

Decidedly Bignoniaceae, but not sure beyond that. Deplanchea tetraphylla??

the seedpod hanging like a snake (normally hang in clusters) reminds of Fernandoa adenophylla (Bignoniaceae) – a native of south east Asia (including of India – Assam,Andaman and Nicobar islands)
At NPGS / GRIN it is put as synonym of Haplophragma adenophyllum, however at The Plants List, Fernandoa adenophylla is the accepted name.

Yes … You are right. As far as recent accepted name is concerned, I think between GRIN and The Plant List we should choose one which has been updated more recently. The plant List is 2010 publication, whereas in this case GRIN record was updated 1997. It is thus logical to follow the The Plant List in this case, Fernandoa adenophylla

Yes It certainly is मरॊड़फली / Fernandoa adenophylla, Family Bignoniaceae.

yes Fernandoa adenophylla, Family Bignoniaceae, flowers yellow, leaves imparipinnately compound

Re: Tree id (Long Curled Seed Pod) :  11 posts by 7 authors. Attachments(2 + 5).
Can some one help me with the id of this tree. The long seed pods found on the ground and the one hanging on the tree were empty.
Only once I had seen a flower fallen on the ground. A bell shaped flower similar to Crecentia cujete flower but the texture was completely different

Bignoniaceae, Radermachera?

Stereospermum chelonoides (L.f.) DC (= S. suaveolens (Roxb.) DC); in this fruits are shorter. it is called padiri, the roots are dasamoola ingredient. In T. tetragonum pods are longer and 4 angled.

It may be Fernandoa adenophylla.

I think … has got the right id…
This is a very common avenue tree in our area too..

Thanks. I am also sending some pictures of fallen flower and the bark of the tree. By looking at these can you reconfirm the id.

It is Heterophragma adenophylla– known as Marorphally,

Fernandoa adenophylla is the synonym and the new name is Haplophragma adenophyllum but … you are saying it is Heterophragma adenophylla. Can someone kindly tell me what kind of distinguishing characters I should look at to compare between both the species.

The key in Fl. Pakistan should help..

i have seen it in the botanical garden in Shibpur but its not common in parks in the cities around southern ganges delta.
nice to see flowers and the later appearing pods in the same post.

I am not exactly sure about it’s full bloom season. But it is not now. All photos are current.
I think these are some late flowers. Just a few 2-3 on  a tree. Hence the pods are in plenty.
These are very common in Delhi.

Looks like Fernandoa. It wold help if there were some flowers or fruit

Thanks a lot. I will see the flowers or fruit.

it looks like Semecarpus anacardium to me.

I’m confused as the leaves appear to be compound

I too think it is Fernandoa adenophylla…

Is this Heterophragma by any chance ?

It reminds me of Fernandoa adenophylla (Wall. ex G.Don) Steenis [Bignoniaceae]. Would be highly improbable for Waras (Heterophragma quadriloculare) to be in bud in September.

I could get one more pic of the tree. It looks similar. This one too is Fernandoa ?
1 image.

Yes, indeed.
