VoF Week :: DV :: 02 AUG 12 – 0329 :: conical fruited borage at Valley of Flowers:
2 AUG 12
Valley of Flowersabout 10000 ft
Habitat: along forest path on mountain slope
Habit: herb, (seems like a climber) about 1 – 1.5 m high, long and wiry flowering stem rising from axils; flower about 5 – 7 mm across; fruit about 2 – 3 mm across this fruit bears some resemblance to that posted in efi thread, however, here the soft spines are shorter; the fruit looks conspicuously triangular even from a metre’s distance.

Perhaps Hackelia uncinata

VOF Week: Hackelia uncinata from the valley and vicinity..:
This one is I hope Hackelia uncinata… shot from various places in and around the valley…validation/correction required…

Yes … Very good photographs.

Many thanks… for sharing this plant, thanks to … for the ID.
Thus my plant at efi thread is certainly Hackelia uncinata.
Would the blue flex-spined fruit be a key to Hackelia uncinata ?

Would like to bring another post to notice with a bit larger fruit with similar blue spines (these too a bit longer) … efi thread
My query of blue flex-spined fruit being a key will get clarified, if both the plants posted are Hackelia uncinata.

“Yes, this should be Hackelia uncinata…..

Habitat: mountain slope
Habit: large herb, about 1 – 1.5 m high, many slender branches from base; flower about 10 – 12 mm across

I think this may be Hackelia uncinata.

In my opinion also this should be Hackelia uncinata….

Yes I think … and … are right

Many thanks …, … and …
Want to compare three posts with probable ID of Hackelia uncinata.
While my observations point to differences, in fact they could be just acceptable variations.
