Annual or biennial herbs, about 10-70 cm long. Stem erect or ascending, simple or branched from the base, densely hirsute with stellate trichomes simple or forked, about 1-2 mm long. Basal radical leaves rosulate, obovate-oblong to oblanceolate in outline, about 2-7 x 0.5-2 cm across, margin deeply lyrately lobed or somewhat pinnately lobed, apex obtuse, terminal lobes usually larger than the lateral ones, densely pubescent with branched stellate trichomes, petiole ciliated, about 0.5-2.5 cm long, cauline leaves smaller, linear-oblong or linear-oblanceolate, about 0.5-4 x 0.2-0.9 cm across, base sagittate or auriculate, margin sinuately dentate, apex acute, pubescent on both sides rarely glabrescent, petiole sessile. Inflorescence racemes, terminal, 15-30 flowered, lax in fruit, about 10-20 cm long, ebracteate. Flowers bisexual, pink, white or purple, actinomorphic, pedicel slender, stellately pubescent or rarely glabrous, about 0.2-1 cm long, sepals 4, spreading, erect, oblong or ovate, pinkish green, densely pubescent, basal pair not saccate, about 1.5-2.5 x 0.6-1 mm across, petals 4, spathulate-obovate, base attenuate, margin entire, apex obtuse, about 2-3.5 x 0.7-1 mm across, claw about 1 mm long. Stamens 6, slightly tetradynamous, filaments not dilated at the base about 2-3 mm long, anthers oblong-linear, about 0.3-0.6 mm long, nectar glands confluent, ovary superior, bicarpellary, syncarpous, linear, ovules 50-130, stigma depressed. Fruit siliqua, dehiscent, linear or terete, curved or straight, compressed, valves papery, distinctly midveined, about 4-8 cm long, torulose or smooth, glabrous, style about 0.3-0.6 mm long. Seeds 20-70, uniseriate, not winged, oblong-ovate, compressed, minutely reticulate, mucilaginous when soaked, cotyledons incumbent, about 0.4-0.8 mm across.

Crucihimalaya species flowers are complete, bisexual, i.e., with functional male (androecium) and female (gynoecium), including stamens, carpels and ovary. Pollination is entomophilous i.e., by insects, or cleistogamy i.e., by self or allogamy i.e., by cross pollination. Flowering/Fruiting: March–July.
Open moist sandy places and grassy slopes, altitude 1800-3500 m.
