Pineapple: Does anyone know where the pineapples that we get in Bangalore are grown?

I have seen its large scale cultivation on the higher hill slopes of Kolli hills and few other places in TN.
As per the link given below, Kerala, Karnataka, West Bengal and NE Indian states are the major producers of Pineapple.
And, “Mauritious” variety seems to be the best edible variety which is widely cultivated in Kerala.

Of course, most of the Pinaple selling in Bangalore come from Kerala.
There is a market for Pinaple in central Kerala near my house. It is Vazhakkulam near Thodupuzha/Muvattupuzha. Now the cultivation has come down considerable because the market is very inconsistent. Mostly, pineapple is cultivated as inter-crop during first 3 years of Rubber planting. http://www.pineapplecity.org/pine_asso.htm

yes. pineapple as a houseplant. very popular with the in style crowd!!! i had several over the years but they dont grow sweet or nearly edible. good to look at and admire.

so what did the label say?

This one did not have the label. I guess you asked about the label for another post.

well. once a garden labels its plants in a show it tends to label most if not all. hence the question. it applies to all your pictures that you took at the park or show. not just this one or the other. if its a botanical garden thats looking after a show etc. i at least think their labelling would be accurate. hence the question. its reassuring, esp to those of us non-botanists who make diagnosis based on experience or reading and sound reasoning. so it will help me if you volunteer to tell us after the diagnosis is made.
