As far as I could tell, this was a large scandent shrub. Can this be Morinda umbellata L.? efi page on Gynochthodes umbellate (syn: Morinda umbellata L.) This seems to be an exotic element. corolla is long. Kindly see the attached Morinda umbellata from Dindugul dt Tamilnadu. I couldn’t relate it to any FBI species. Description of M. umbellata L. can be found in FoC. And for other Indian and neighbour species check this Thailand paper. Thank you …, I agree that it does not match Morinda umbellata L. I also do not know what to make of the thailand paper. If my plant IS listed in the paper, it must come under either Morinda pandurifolia Kuntze or Morinda nana Craib based on scandent habit.
I request … to please take a look.
…, you missed the length of peduncle in Thailand KEY. It cannot be M. nana or M. pandurifolia. I referred to Thailand paper only because it was the latest lit where I could find descriptions of FBI species. And your species fits none of that paper. Thank you sir. Had not noticed that bit. I don’t have a clue. I could not exact match any from FoPI ! . Morinda Species For ID : Lalbagh,Bangalore : 10APR16 : AK-5 : 05/05 : 1 post by 1 author. Attachments (2)
Morinda Species seen in Lalbagh on 30th March, 16. It was a small tree. Should be Morinda citrifolia Any fruits ? That will clinch ID
We have seen M.citrifolia in Lalbagh Mumbai too.
All these gardens have been planted with similar plants long back it seems
There were no fruits visible to me at least.
Flowers seemed a bit bigger in size.
You mean to say you have seen in Rani Bagh, Mumbai? Yes there are quite a few Morinda citrifolia trees on left side Ranibagh. Rather I have seen M.citrifolia only in Ranibagh Mumbai. Whatever wild Morinda in Pune are all Morinda pubescens I think same unidentified species as in … thread at
