Caryophyllaceae Week: Cerastium tomentosum from Kashmir: Cerastium tomentosum L., Sp. Pl. 1:440. 1753.

Common names: dusty-miller; snow-in-harvest; snow-in-summer; snow-on-the-mountain

Tall cultivated perenial herb with whte tomentose stems and leaves, up to 40 cm tall; leaves opposite, linear-lanceolate, 15-20 mm long, white tomentose with scarious margins; flowers white, 12-18 mm across in dichasial cymes; pedicels 2-3 times as long as sepals; sepals tomentose; petals twice as long; capsule longer than calyx revolute teeth.

Perennial up to 40 cm. Stem erect to ascending, white tomentose. Leaves linear-lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate, covered with dense white woolly pubescence. with scarious margins. Flowers in cymes. Sepals 6-7 mm, tomentose. Petals twice the length of the sepals. Capsule teeth flat with revolute margins.
