Thanks … Does it come in other colours also apart from white ? Is it Cleome spinosa ? 

I have seen pink, magenta, violetish/deep magenta tinged with ???blue(may be hybrids) and yellow in gardens in New york (cultivated) and 

in countryside//by ponds in bengal. the color had mainly been pink and reddish tinged white, dont know if these were garden escapees or planted by the pond owner, then and self seeded. 
Cleome makes a lot of seeds. dont know the cultivar names.
Does not match with any species of Cleome in efi so far as per

yes. you are right. looks close but Cleome can a have a very wide variation. if one googles White cleome flower or cleome flower variations 

one will also find a name: “cleome white queen” or Cleome hassleriana….
so. take your pick. what you pick is fine by me because this is all we have to go by unless one does genetic analysis etc

I think it should be Tarenaya hassleriana only.
Flora of North America says Tarenaya hassleriana is native to Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay. It is often cultivated and has sometimes escaped and naturalized. In cultivation and various floras, it has long been treated under the name Cleome spinosa; that name properly applies to the next species (i.e. Tarenaya spinosa (Jacquin) Rafinesque).
I have also checked keys in Flora of North America along with resources on net. To me seppals do not look ± glandular-pubescent. Also this species is not cultivated as stated in Flora of North America. 

It is also possible that we are not able to see ± glandular-pubescent nature of sepals with these images.
FoNA for Tarenaya spinosa (Jacquin) Rafinesque says sepals green, lanceolate, 6-8 × 0.8-1.3 mm, glandular-pubescent; petals white or greenish white (somewhat reddish abaxially), …. stamens white, 20-50 mm; anthers 9-10 mm.
While for Tarenaya hassleriana (Chodat) H. H. Iltis, it states sepals (reflexed after anthesis), green, linear-lanceolate, 5-7 × 0.8-1.3 mm, glabrous; petals usually pink or purple, sometimes white (or fading to white by second day), …. stamens purple, 30-50 mm; anthers 9-10 mm.
So tentatively I am keeping it as Tarenaya spinosa (Jacquin) Rafinesque for the time being.
