Attached are pictures of Getonia floribunda captured at Mumbai in February 2013.
I found it in a densely populated slum area in Mumbai, was very surprised to see it there.
The slums had taken over a erstwhile green hillock and then realised that this may have been a spared from the axe.
My first sight of this plant, later, I saw this climber forming a dense cover over entire hills of the Konkan in March 2014.

A climber from Family : Combretaceae.
Earlier we have discussed it several times.
I was waiting to capture its flowers for long time though being a very common plant

My first impression was also that it was Getonia floribunda [Calycopteris floribunda], but it is Combretum albidum. My photographs of this are available in the archives of this group.


I feel some difference in the leaf shape, especially at the tip and the venation. please verify.
I couldnt find your pictures while searching for Combretum albidum. Kindly provide link for the same.

The species in Indo-Malesian in distribution. I have seen specimens from Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Odisha and Tamil Nadu. Outside India, I have examined specimens from Bangladesh and Myanmar.

It looks like the winged fruit of Getonia floribunda Roxb. [Combretaceae] has flown and dropped on those leaves from somewhere.

Found in my garden in Sriperumbudur near Chennai.
Climber.
It got max.15+ pairs of leaflets or leaves in a group as in first picture.
I did not planted it.
Wild plant. Should have been spreaded by birds or wind.


Always difficult to tell in vegetative stage.
