Commelina paleata Hassk., Pl. Jungh. 139 1852. (Syn: Trithyrocarpus oligospatha Hassk.; Trithyrocarpus paleatus (Hassk.) Hassk.);
.
Am not sure but I could see some pubescence upon the spathe in the picture.
Do Commelina diffusa have such hairs on spathe?
in your description, it has a glabrous surface. thank you … for neat observations.
This may be close to Commelina paleata Hassk. Requesting to please ID this plant captured at Kanheri Caves, SGNP in Aug 2014.
Which Commelina species? Commelina sp Attaching a cropped view of the same… Probably Commelina paleata Hassk. Commelina—for identification 281217sn1 : 8 posts by 4 authors. Attachments (4) I thought this was C.diffusa but now it is suggested as C. erecta. Here is the link https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/7711938. I have just added more pictures for further clarification till then it is a tentative id. I do not see anything about this in Eflora.
Appears to be Commelina paleata!, I wish it has been clicked on well-elevated forest slopes or plateaus?
Where and when was it clicked? Thanks … This was photographed at Aambyvalley Rd., Lonavala, Pune on Sept.10 2016 Kokan, Commelina for ID :: ARK2019-48 : 9 posts by 4 authors. Attachments (2)
Saw this Commelina near Devgad, Coastal Kokan, MH in Nov 2012.
Is this Commelina forsskalii?? It’s Commelina paleata!! Thank you … for the ID.
How would one distinguish between C. paleata and C. forskalii?
Description for the flower in http://keralaplants.in/keralaplantsdetails.aspx?id=Commelina_paleata does not match with posted flower. This has been identified by Mayur Nandikar, who is the expert in India on this genus.
To me also appears close to images at Commelina paleata
Thanks … for validating.
Are there any morphological features which can help us identify this? Commelinas are very confusing.
I too would like to know the characteristics …… as to how to differentiate it in field from very similar looking Commelina forskaolii. Only difference I can see is hairs on spathe very less, negligible.
OMJUL01 : 3 posts by 2 authors. Attachments (4) i am a bit confused between the Commelina species, here. Is this Commelina paleata, or Commelina obliqua. The leaf size was about 10cm (max 13cm).
Shot at Sgnp, nagla, july 2015
Commelina obliqua Vahl has got no distribution in Uttarakhand.
So it should be Commelina paleata Hassk..
You are right, … Only part is spathe, which is very acuminate and usually not agreeing with my concept of paleata.
