Neuropeltis malabarica Ooststr., Blumea 5(1): 272–273, f. 2, g–h 1942.;
 


Large woody climbers; bark grey, with warty tubercles; young shoots brown tomentose, lenticellate. Leaves alternate, to 12 x 6 cm, elliptic or oblong, shortly caudate-acuminate, mucronate, base acute, young leaves tomentose on both sides, becoming glabrous when mature; lateral nerves 8-11 pairs, intercostae reticulate; petiole 1-1.5 cm long. Racemes axillary to the terminal leaves, densely brown tomentose; bracts minute, enlarged and peltate in fruits. Sepals broadly ovate, obtuse, tomentose outside, 2.5 mm long. Corolla tomentose outside and glabrous inside, tube 1.8 mm long, lobes 4 x 2.2 mm. Stamens 4 mm long, exserted. Ovary densely pilose. Capsule globose, 0.5 mm across, bracts 2.5-3.5 cm across, membranous, prominently reticulately veined; seeds glabrous ovoid, 3.5 mm long.
