Pycreus polystachyos is a cosmopolitan species, found throughout the temperate and tropical world. In India it is distributed in Assam, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Meghalaya, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

It is an annual or sometimes a perennial. It is found growing commonly in seasonally flooded places, damp places, in marshes, swamps, in rice fields, river banks and at the margins of pools.

It is another 1 ft cyperus.

Don’t know the ID.

Cyperus sp. so far in efi.

This is Pycreus polystachyus Beauv.; F. B. I. vi. 592; Cyperus polystachyos F. I. i. 193.; i think.

Please help me in identifying the Cyperaceae sedge. Is a species of Cyperus?

Height: about one feet

Date: 07 March 2014

Place: Ariyalur dist., TN

Altitude: c. 50 m asl

Habitat: wetland, marsh

I think it is Pycreus polystachyos (Rottb.) Beauv.
