It is herbaceous annual which reach upto the height of 10-20 cm (Singh et al. 2001) . At the edges of drying pools, in wet flushes, springs, along streams and rivers on sandy river bars. It is also a common weed of rice fields (Cook 1996). It is usually seen assocaited with Cyperus difformis, Fimbristylis miliaceae and Echinochloa colona (Daniel and Umamaheswari 2001). It is variable in height and common near water sources (Madras Herbaria 22 November 2010).

The world wide it is found in Old world tropics and subtropics (Cook 1996).

Fimbristylis species in efi so far.  


This seems to be Fimbristylis bisumbellata (Forssk.) Bubani, as have been identified earlier by Tanveer Sir

Not Fimbristylis dichotoma, need a specimen to confirm the identity.

may be species of Cyperus but not C. rotundus 


I found it too small for C. rotundus. It is hardly 6 to 8 cm long


Any possibility of SCIRPUS sp. 


Photos are not clear If Possible please send better photographs. but it looks like a Fimbristylis bissumbilata.
