Taken at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Peradeniya, Sri Lanka on the 17th of
November, 2010. I have seen the one with Red flowers….we have it in our Nasik garden. But these were lighter flowers.

How do i know if the inflorescence of this genus is unisexual or bisexual – http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=100064#KEY-1-4? These are microscopic flowers!

This species commonly cultivated is Acalypha chamaedrifolia (Lam.) Müll.Arg. (Basionym: Croton chamaedrifolius Lam.;Synonym: Acalypha reptans Sw.)


I think this has to be Acalypha hispida only unless the plant is a smaller or dwarf variety which is known by the name A.chamaedrifolia or A. reptans
