Tree for ID : 310112 : Kenya : AK-2:
A huge tree seen in Nairobi, Kenya during Jan, 2009.
Small white flowers.
Saw similar leaves on some street trees there, probably cultivated.

Do you have the close up of flower/s?

The flowers were very high up, this was the closest I could get to them.
The ones seen on the street were small ones without flowers and there is no way you can walk with a camera on the street…too dangerous.

Would you please crop the picture before re sizing so that you can see flower/s clearly and upload the same?

Sending the cropped close up. Hope it helps.

… suggested the name Aleurites moluccana, for one of my recent Delhi tree id.
I think this matches with one of my earlier posts, lying unidentified for very for long.
…, kindly confirm.

Yes Aleurites moluccana.

Aleurites Species?
Aleurites moluccana of Euphorbiaceae?
Experts kindly validate.

efi page on Aleurites moluccana

For me it is genus Aleurites. Not sure about the species.

Although the leaves of the candlenuts are variable, I think this is still Aleurites moluccanus.

Yes, this is Aleurites moluccana (L.) Willd., commonly called Candle-nut tree or Jungli-Akhrot (in Hindi), originally introduced and cultivated in tea gardens and now found in many gardens and also often found naturally in secondary forests. The kernel of the seed is edible and has a pleasant walnut taste.

Thiruvannamalai plant I’d please: 1 high res. image.

Found in a forest nursery in Tiruvannamalai district of TN. NOT clear about the habit.
The seeds must have been collected in Eastern ghats only.
Leaves alternate spiral.

Sterculia ? Just a guess.

Also check for Aleurites species.

Yes, Aleurites moluccana is a better possibility.

Please help with ID-GS02022023-1: 3 high res. images.
Please help with the ID, photographed by my son from Hawaii, January 2, 2023.

Possibly Aleurites moluccana. Please check. One tree is also seen here in my city.

Looks good.

Thanks a Lot … I have uploaded this species from Delhi. I thought flowers looked smaller than mine and other images on our website

Yes it is Aleurites molluccana, the plant seems to be very common in Hawaii and many similar images can be seen. Thanks again.
